What we do in QuickBooks
- Fresh setup for new businesses, with a chart of accounts designed around how you actually operate
- Rebuilding a chart of accounts that has accumulated years of one-off categories
- Bank and credit card feeds, with rules that categorize reliably instead of approximately
- Payroll integration so wages, taxes and liabilities post correctly
- Class or location tracking where revenue sourcing matters for CAT and city taxes
- Sales tax setup for businesses selling into states that have one — Oregon does not, but your customers’ states might
- Training, so your team can run day-to-day entry without creating cleanup work
Setting it up for Oregon filings specifically
A generic QuickBooks setup will not tell you what you need for a Portland-area business return. We configure the file so that the numbers those returns require can be pulled directly:
- Revenue tagged by sourcing, so Oregon-sourced commercial activity for CAT is a report rather than a reconstruction
- Accounts structured so Portland and Multnomah County apportionment figures come out of the file
- Payroll liabilities separated by jurisdiction — Paid Leave Oregon, statewide transit, TriMet, and Metro SHS and PFA withholding
- Owner compensation kept distinct from distributions, which is what keeps an S-corp defensible
Desktop or Online?
Most small businesses are better served by QuickBooks Online now, particularly if more than one person touches the file or if you want us working in it alongside you. There are still cases for Desktop and we will say so if yours is one.
Can you fix a file rather than starting over?
Usually. Starting over loses history and is rarely necessary — most files can be corrected in place, which is also cheaper.
Do you offer training?
Yes, and it is often the highest-value part of the engagement. An hour spent on how to code transactions saves months of cleanup.
Are you a certified ProAdvisor?
No. Katie works in QuickBooks every day and sets it up for clients, but she does not hold the QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification. What she brings is more than twenty-five years of keeping small-business books.
