Before you come in
Four things that make a notarisation take five minutes
Bring valid photo ID
Current, government-issued, and matching the name on the document. A notary cannot proceed without it.
Do not sign in advance
The whole point is that the signature happens in front of the notary. A pre-signed document has to be redone.
Bring the whole document
Every page, including the notarial certificate. We cannot choose the wording of that certificate for you.
Every signer, together
If the document needs two signatures, both people need to be present with their own ID.
What we notarise
- Acknowledgements — confirming a signer’s identity and that they signed willingly
- Jurats — administering an oath or affirmation on a sworn statement
- Copy certifications, where Oregon law permits
- Powers of attorney, affidavits and consent forms
- Business documents, corporate resolutions and contracts
- Loan signings — refinances, purchases and equity lines
What to bring
- 1Valid photo identification — a current government-issued ID, not expired.
- 2The complete, unsigned document. An Oregon notary cannot notarise a signature made outside their presence for an acknowledgement taken in person.
- 3Every signer, at the same appointment where the document requires it.
- 4Any witnesses the document requires — a notary is not a witness.
Do I need an appointment?
Call ahead — during filing season the offices are busy and a moment’s notice is not always possible.
Can you notarise for someone who cannot come in?
The signer must appear before the notary. Mobile signings can be arranged for loan documents; general notarial acts still require the signer to be present.
Do you do remote online notarisation?
Ask when you call — availability of remote notarisation depends on the document and the receiving party’s requirements.
What does it cost?
Oregon sets maximum notary fees by statute. Call and we will tell you the fee for what you need.
Talk it through before filing season starts
Start with a complimentary 15-minute introductory call about your situation and whether we are a good fit. No tax advice is given on that call.
